For me, that makes it more comfortable. First off the lights dimming when you hit the start button is normal. It is wired so current flows to the lights until you press the start button. This diverts most of the battery power to the starter for a quicker start. The start/ switch is problem area on Hondas. Poor starting even in cold weather, is an indication of a problem. The proper procedure should work even in very cold weather: Full choke No throttle. It sounds like a carb adjustment problem but may be plugs or dirty air filter. The NC is a good beginner, intermediate and final bike. It has enough power to do what you need with a lower gearing to allow for solid takeoffs and prevent stalling (in the manual anyway). The practicality and unique frunk space is an excellent addition.
